Shit. Last night was intense; I heard what sounded like a panther growling nearby my tent. I quickly killed the candle-lit lantern and tried to stay as still as possible. I wasn’t worried though, this was a normal occurrence. But things are looking up, since today is my birthday (I think). When I awoke I treated myself to the leftovers of a Spam can. Anyway, as I was saying last night, NASA understood the message left by the creatures of the dark side of the Moon. They never returned, which made the people of America confused. Conspiracy theorists had a damn field day over the whole ordeal… Of course, NASA needed more. If they couldn’t visit the Moon again, they had to search for somewhere else which was inhabitable for humans. This was Mars, and America was interested. They launched tens of orbiters, landers, and rovers to Mars. The Razoans of Mars must have not cared about these, because no problems happened. This was all until 2021 when NASA and ESA launched a joint operation dubbed ‘Operation Shadow.’ Operation Shadow was the first manned mission to Mars; no one had any idea why NASA and ESA joined together, or why they had some of the top Military Officials in the world aboard. The only thing that matters though is that they never returned. NASA and ESA told the people of the world that the reason Operation Shadow failed was because of “mechanical failures caused by the upper atmosphere of Mars.” What they didn’t say, was that Operation Shadow successfully landed and captured panoramic pictures of Mars. In one of the photos, one can clearly see the group of 10-20 creatures in the distance. The Razoans knew we were there, and they were not pleased. No vocal contact was made between the members of Operation Shadow and NASA/ESA, and only the presidents and military leaders of West and East World were allowed clearance to these photos. Within months, large meteors were seen on radar headed for Earth. I saw this on the television, and I knew it was suspicious. West World TV informed us that they would be taken care of, and there was no reason for harm. They quickly switched back to their daily showing of “West World and You” as if nothing happened. Nothing was adding up, why did we send humans to Mars in the first place? Why did mechanical issues occur if the space ship’s plans were scrutinized for years? I needed answers. I needed to visit the president of West World and gain his trust to understand what was truly behind the meteors headed towards us. I need to keep moving, I need to find food. I’ve been in the same run-down town for days. I don’t have too much time to write in this diary, but at least I have something to look forward to in this empty world. For now, I must rest. Tomorrow will be a long trek until the next town.

Shit. I can’t even believe I’m doing this… But I really can’t take it anymore. Months of wandering across barren land for civilization with no one to talk to is making me go insane. I guess writing in this diary will contain the only sanity left inside me. I’m not even sure why I’m doing this, it’s not like anyone will get the chance to read this anyway… Shit, I haven’t even seen a human since the invasion of the Razoans 3 months back. Well…This all started when America visited the Moon in the late 1960’s. For all you youngins’, ‘America’ was a piece of what we now know as West World. What the astronauts found on the other side of the moon was something beyond belief… Inscriptions written in an unknown tongue. Of course, NASA couldn’t even see what was on the photos at the time they were taken because they didn’t have the technology. Back then, it was simply black ink on paper. Unfortunately it wasn’t until 1972 that NASA went back to the dark side and took more photos. This time NASA could easily see what was written: “LEAVE.”
